Topic: Atrial fibrillation – Convergent Ablation

 

Summary:

Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is the most common irregular heartbeat and is characterized by heart palpitations, dizziness, and shortness of breath. This progressive and debilitating disease can lead to stroke, heart failure, and Alzheimer's disease, and can double your risk of death. Afib takes a physical toll, an emotional toll, and a financial toll on those who are living with it. This lecture will address most successful mode of treatment for atrial fibrillation and its safety and effectiveness.

 

Objectives:

  1. Be able to discusses causes and pathophysiology of different types atrial fibrillation

  2. Be able to understand and provide appropriate of treatments for different types atrial fibrillation.

Dr. Sathappan Kumar was born and completed his High School in Paganeri, South Chettinad, Tamil nadu, India. Received his Medical degree from Madras Medical college. After his completion of Internship, he worked as Rural health block medical officer in Sivaganagai district primary health center for four years. Moved to United Kingdom for higher studies with his medical college friends help. He did his Surgical Fellowship from Royal college of Ireland and Move to New Zealand for basic surgical and cardiothoracic training. After completion of residency in the Oceania, he moved to USA and did his Fellowship in Cardiac surgery in Vanderbilt University Medical center, Nashville TN.

 

Now he is an Attendee cardiac surgeon in Maimonides Medical center Brooklyn NY. Doing all open and minimally invasive cardiac surgery procedures including TAVR and ECMO. Research focused on Atrial fibrillation and its management.
